Road Bike Season has Begun

March 15, 2011

It was the decided on the spur of the moment that with the temperature rising to a balmy 5C, it was time … time to break out the road bikes. Scott pitched the idea and I agreed. We rushed home from work. I hurried to change the saddle on the Guru to a B17 and pumped the tires to 110 psi.

We met at the intersection of Burnhamthorpe and Mississauga Road. We headed towards Port Credit with the plan of going 30km or 90 minutes; whichever came first.

The first road bike ride of the season - 30km

I’ve missed riding the road bike. I haven’t used clipless pedals for a few months. All I can say was that it was a great ride. The road bikes are so fast and light. I almost forgot how much fun it is to go fast. My Garmin indicates that I got the bike spooled up to 45km/hr.

We did 30km in exactly 90 minutes. I can’t get the grin off my face. The road bike season has started. It’s go time!

I will probably be riding at least one week night. These rides will be short notice, weather and schedule dependent. I don’t plan on coordinating a group. However if you want to join me then email me to let me know you have interest. I’ll toss an email only to interested people with 30 minutes to one hour notice.
